Nobody wants damaged stamps, when .... hold it that was stamps section .... well actually we got the same issue with letter or postcards we receive, so...
Nobody wants to receive letters with nice stamps, if they a ruined during transport. So here are some advice and tutorial how to protect stamps and avoid damage during transport.
lets have a look at this beauty from Ukraina, well first its just definitives, but they canceled nicely. Probably the post clerk did it by hand.

here is a detail of the nice left cancel. I flipped it by 90 degrees, that how it should look like, but ...
... as you see from the wider view two stamps got torn on the upper left side. So that really nice cover is sorrowly ruined, same with the stamps.
So how to solve this ? Easy - always be sure to affix the stamps firmly. Do a rough test by brushing over the stamps with your fingers or bend the letter a little to so, if the stamps are firmly affixed.
Another really good solution, perfectly implemented by Pete:
So first the needed material: a card as stiffener (in this case an unused maxim card), the envelope itself of cause and a plastic envelope, which fits the envelope (here provided by the royal mail)
after you fitted the card into the envelope, put the envelope in the plastic one.
Be careful not to touch the gum.
The result: the stamp an the addressee is still visible
But the envelope and the affixed stamps are save and they can't be harmed while being in transport.
